Me Ahogo / I Drown

A veces siento que  me ahogo,
como a un feto cuando se le enrolla el cordón umbilical al cuello,
como un capitán hundiéndose en su propio barco,
como unas manos que se ciernen sobre mi garganta.
Asfixiada, 
así es como me siento.
Sólo dos opciones:
resistirse o dejarse llevar.
Acorralada, presionada, obligada, 
sin voluntad, sin libertad...
Pero, cuando pienso después en esas personas libres,
que hacen cuanto quieren,
me rio.
Me rio pues no saben cuán efímera es su libertad.


Sometimes I feel like I'm drowning, 
as when a fetus is wrapped by their umbilical cord around his neck, 
as a captain in his own sinking ship 
as hands that hang over my throat. 
Gagged, 
that's how I feel. 
Only two options: 
resist or let it go. 
Cornered, pressured, forced, 
without will, without freedom ... 
But then when I think these free people 
that do what they want, 
I laugh. 

I laugh because they don't know how fleeting is his freedom.
